Best CS2 Sensitivity: Pro Settings Explained

The best CS2 sensitivity settings, the eDPI and cm/360 ranges pros actually play at, and how to find your own — plus how to convert your sens with a free tool.

Counter-Strike has the lowest sensitivities in competitive FPS, and for good reason — CS2 is all about precise spray control and counter-strafing. Here's the range pros use, why it's so low, and how to find your own.

The short answer

Typical CS2 pro and high-rank settings:

SettingTypical range
Mouse DPI400 (some use 800)
In-game sensitivity1.5 – 2.5
eDPI (DPI × sens)~600 – 1000
cm/360~40 – 55 cm

A classic, safe starting point is 400 DPI × 2.0 sensitivity (800 eDPI). Many legendary players sit right around there.

Why CS2 sensitivity is so low

CS2 has the lowest sensitivities of any major shooter, and it's deliberate. The game rewards:

  • Spray control — holding a precise line while recoil pulls your aim.
  • Counter-strafing — stopping dead to shoot accurately.
  • Micro-adjustments — tiny, exact corrections onto a head.

All of that is far easier with a low sensitivity and big arm movements. Trying to spray-control at high sens is like writing with your whole arm — it fights you. That's why ~40–55 cm/360 is the norm.

eDPI is the number that transfers

Your real sensitivity is DPI × in-game sens = eDPI. 400 DPI × 2.0 and 800 DPI × 1.0 are both 800 eDPI and feel identical. So compare players by eDPI, not raw sens. New to this? See eDPI explained and what mouse DPI is.

How to find your CS2 sensitivity

  1. Set 400 DPI in your mouse software — the CS pro standard.
  2. Start at 2.0 in-game (800 eDPI) and play for several days.
  3. Adjust in small steps. If you can't hold a spray or overshoot heads, go lower (1.8, 1.6). If you feel trapped and can't turn, go slightly higher.
  4. Then leave it alone for at least a week — aim is muscle memory, and constant changes reset it. More in how to improve your aim.

Switching from Valorant or another game

CS2 and Valorant turn different amounts per unit of sensitivity — a 1600 eDPI in CS2 is nothing like 1600 eDPI in Valorant. So never copy the raw number across.

Instead, convert your exact feel with the sensitivity converter: enter your current game and settings, and it gives you the matching CS2 value in cm/360. Perfect muscle-memory transfer.

FAQ

What is the best sensitivity for CS2? Around 600–1000 eDPI (e.g. 400 DPI × 1.5–2.5) is where most pros play. A great starting point is 400 DPI × 2.0.

What DPI do CS2 pros use? Overwhelmingly 400 DPI, with some on 800. Combined with a low in-game sens, that gives the very low eDPI Counter-Strike is known for.

Why is CS2 sensitivity so low? The game rewards spray control, counter-strafing and tiny precise corrections — all far easier with low sensitivity and arm aiming. Around 40–55 cm/360 is standard.

How do I convert my sensitivity to CS2? Use the sensitivity converter — it translates your current game's settings into the CS2 value that matches your exact cm/360.

Should I use 400 or 800 DPI in CS2? Either works if the eDPI is the same. 400 is the traditional pro choice; 800 is fine too. Pick one, set the matching in-game sens, and don't switch back and forth.
